The combination of wenge doors with interior

Wenge is a valuable rare tree growing in the tropical forests of Central Africa. It grows to a height of 25 meters, and the maximum recorded diameter is 120 cm. The color of wood is from yellow-brown to black-brown, there is a huge variety of shades. For the design of modern interiors, high-quality parquet is made of it, as well as details of the stairs and sport corners, as it is very durable. But the most popular are the doors of wenge in the interior.

Wood features

Wenge wood is very different from other species:

  • has a high density - greater than that of oak, beech, larch, ash and many others;
  • a huge variety of shades - from very light to very black;
  • incredibly beautiful, noble texture;
  • considerable resistance to pressure that allows to make objects unique on a fortress from it;
  • difficult to process, due to the large number of resins, minerals;
  • has bactericidal properties - products from it are not subject to the influence of mold, fungus, insects;
  • it is durable - with proper processing it will last for hundreds of years, with time it gets even darker;
  • resistant to sudden changes in temperature and humidity, because it is used not only indoors, but also for exterior finish;
  • heavy, sinking in water, the fibers are straight and not intertwined.

In the post-Soviet space, wenge does not grow, but imported from the African continent costs “cosmic” money. Therefore, many unscrupulous manufacturers tint the beech or walnut, giving it off as original wood, therefore “wenge” is usually just the color, and not the real Congolese rosewood.

Types, models of interior doors

When choosing interior doors for an apartment, private house, it is necessary to determine the main important characteristics:

  • design - they should fit well into the existing or planned interior;
  • price - how much I would like to meet;
  • dimensions depend on the width, height of the doorway;
  • opening options - there are several;
  • technical properties - durability, sound insulation, resistance to moisture, temperature, etc.

The price category most often depends on the material of manufacture:

  • solid wood - made of natural wood, varnished. Possess the highest sound insulation, well keep heat in the room, have high cost;
  • veneered - conifers are covered with a thin veneer, made of more valuable wood, and on top - varnish. With proper care, they will last for 20-35 years, the construction has average sound insulation properties, it is unstable to moisture;
  • from eco-veneer - made of wood fibers with polyurethane. They are distinguished by environmental friendliness, good sound insulation, wide assortment, but worsen interior air exchange;
  • laminated - covered with a material that imitates wood. They are the cheapest, but individual models will last a long time;
  • covered with PVC film, wood color. The basis is usually a chipboard in combination with plywood.

Depending on the method of opening the valves, there are compartments (sliding), canisters (double), books-accordions, pendulum (open in any direction). According to the number of valves - single, one and a half, bivalve. The models are distinguished by the presence of transparent, colored or frosted glass, mirrors, metal inserts, panels, tsarg, there are also solid wooden "deaf" designs.

The design should look good on both sides, originally fitting into the interior of two rooms at once.

Selection by color, texture

There are many shades of African rosewood:

  • yellow brown;
  • purple and black;
  • chocolate;
  • pale brown with black veins;
  • royal burgundy;
  • golden;
  • greenish-terracotta;
  • brown-lilac;
  • black and maroon;
  • tea red;
  • pink-brown with greenish patches.

The texture of the door wenge matte and glossy. The choice of a particular shade depends on the stylistic design of the rooms where they will be located, as well as the personal preferences of the tenants.

The “classic” color scheme is white inserts made of glass or other wood in a whole wenge canvas. This solution will decorate almost any interior.

Wenge and other interior colors

Color combinations are preferred with light warm hues. In the overwhelming majority of cases, the doors are chosen at least two or three tones darker than the walls, curtains, but can practically coincide with the colors of the floor. Looks good and furnishing the color of African rosewood.

From warm colors fit:

  • pistachio;
  • lime;
  • pale yellow;
  • peach;
  • reddish brown;
  • light tangerine.

Cold are used less often - graphite gray, pale blue, violet, emerald. It looks great grass-green carpet on the floor, echoing the same curtains, light brown furniture, red-black doors.

When the furnishings, like the doorways, are made out of African rosewood, it is better that the upholstered sofas and armchairs are lighter than wooden parts, the tables and chairs are one or two tones lighter than the doors, the drapes on the furniture, the windows, and the screens are contrasting. The necessary fittings are fulfilled: for cold shades of wenge silver-gray, for warm ones - yellow-gold.

The choice of wallpaper under the door

Wallpapers are always selected lighter than the door panels - for small, poorly lit rooms with windows to the north, white, beige, sand and ocher are preferable. Spacious rooms with windows to the south "will like the" cold colors - turquoise, blue, violet, pale green. The ideal complement to the “expensive” interior will be vinyl or silk photo wallpapers with images of summer forest, sea sunset, village landscapes or animals.
If the door leaves have stained glass, a lot of patterns, various metal inserts, the wallpaper is selected monochromatic and vice versa, a simple brown door looks favorably on a moderately-flowered background. Wallpaper sometimes glue at the same time two types, but different textures, colors, patterns. For example, two-thirds of the walls of a room are covered with wide greenish-beige cloths in small florets, and between them they glue narrower ones, with large plant elements. Another option is gray monochrome wallpaper on three walls, and on the far wall opposite to the wide doorway - colorful wallpaper.

The choice of flooring and baseboards

The combination with the laminate, imitating bleached or bog oak, the same baseboards, looks original, expensive. The woody structure in the design of the floor is required - the only way to create the most harmonious interior.

The most commonly used imitation of the texture of the following species:

  • cherries;
  • ate;
  • pines;
  • maple;
  • mahagoni;
  • beech wood;
  • Karelian birch.

Laminate "under the wenge" or the floorboard of this color is used most often. The natural parquet from the Congolese rosewood looks great, but it cannot afford its middle or economy class, due to the excessive cost of raw materials. Here less expensive wood imitating wenge will come to the rescue, and quality linoleum will come to the cheap doors covered with self-adhesive film.

For hygienic reasons, ceramic tiles imitating wood are often laid in the bath and toilet rooms. Many manufacturers produce floor and wall tiles that resemble the texture of African rosewood.

Plinths for any premises are recommended to match the color of the door panels, which are sometimes combined with the colors of the window frames. In this case, the details of the floor are preferred much darker than the material of the floors. When the room is cramped, they are made as light as possible, giving the space lightness, airiness. When buying laminate, sellers often recommend to immediately take a plinth of the same color, some companies even give it as a gift when buying large quantities of flooring, because this design is most popular. Sometimes they buy a single-color plinth with walls, but for too narrow corridors this design is not suitable - the room will become narrower.

If the door leaves are made of natural wood, if possible, the wooden floor is either parquet or boardwalk.

Door styles

Interior wenge doors look great in a wide variety of interior styles:

  • classic - a small number of ornaments - meanders, curls in the design of red-brown designs, successfully harmonizing with the chiseled legs of the furniture;
  • Provence - the lightest shades of Congolese rosewood,
  • minimalism - “deaf” as monotonous doors as possible, simple furnishing of “pure” colors - red, yellow, black, laminate floors and nothing superfluous;
  • ethnic - the gamma of the interior is made in brown-green tones, the doors are the darkest elements in harmony with wicker mats on the floor, indoor flowers in floor vases, various natural decor;
  • Art Nouveau - the emphasis is on wide doorways that are decorated with brown and black horizontal stripes, there are light stretch ceilings, glass inserts above the doors;
  • High-tech - the abundance of light successfully emphasizes the brilliant texture of wood, the canvas is formed with mirror, metal inserts of clear geometric shapes. Primary colors - steel, white, black;
  • Contemporary - simple, cozy rooms, the entrances and exits of which are decorated with functional wenge-doors, with a variety of patterns, duplicated on the built-in wardrobes, dressers;
  • Eastern - the lightest shades of wenge in the design of doors, furniture, flooring, in harmony with the bonsai trees on the windowsills, wallpaper with black and red hieroglyphs;
  • loft - perfect for wenge style, lush brown design looks good against the background of simple brick walls, playing with all the colors, when the street light falls from the panoramic windows;
  • Baroque - luxurious doors exclusively from natural wood, decorated with volume carving, stained glass, the texture is clearly pronounced.

It is desirable that all the doors in the apartment, no matter how many of them, should be chosen in the same color, with similar fittings. The differences here are permissible only in the number of colored or transparent inserts, the width of the canvases.

Doors in the interior of different rooms

The described material is resistant to the vast majority of external influences, therefore it is used in the design of any rooms:

  • for the living room - it adds luxury to the room, unique coziness, emphasizes the impeccable taste of the home owners, preferably decorated with glass elements;
  • in the bedroom - it has soundproofing characteristics, you can easily fall asleep behind such a door, even if someone in the other room is noisy, the colors are recommended to be light and relaxing;
  • for the nursery - high resistance to damage, even if there are many children, they are unlikely to break the structure, convex parts, the glass here is the bare minimum;
  • in the bathroom - the humidity of the doors wenge is not terrible, so that it is mounted in the bathroom, toilet;
  • in the kitchen - has the property of disinfecting the air, cleaning it, which is so important when cooking;
  • in the dressing room - clothes, shoes, located in such a room, will not absorb extraneous smells, will not become moldy, even if it is located on the first floor;
  • for the hallway - everyone who comes into the house sees from the threshold the high cost of the interior, for the owners this is a wonderful opportunity to boast wealth in the family.

Installation of wenge doors in separate rooms sometimes causes difficulties, because it is better to entrust the work to specialists.
