From baguette

Baguette - mostly wooden profile for making picture frames. It is purchased in the framing salons, and with the availability of appropriate equipment, it is produced independently.

To make a chest of 18 by 18 cm in size, you will need:

  • baguette length of 2.8-3 m, width 4.5-5 cm;
  • three pieces of hardboard for cover and bottom;
  • two hinges with fasteners in the form of screws;
  • lock with fasteners;
  • thick fabric with embroidery;
  • PVA glue, "Moment";
  • acrylic paint.
  • hack with a small-toothed hacksaw;
  • jigsaw;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver, hammer;
  • knife or microdrill;
  • ruler.

Working process:

  • need to cut at an angle four pieces of baguette for the lid, glue them together with "Moment";
  • glue the top cover, decorating it with a cloth with embroidery;
  • saw off four more pieces of baguette to make the walls of the box, glue;
  • attach the bottom to the baguette with screws - the latter should not be too long;
  • the lid with the base of the box is looped;
  • the surface of the product is painted with acrylic, varnished.

To simplify the manufacturing process, you can ask to cut the material at an angle of 45 degrees in the framing workshop.

Scotch tape reels

Old empty reels of adhesive tape are also used to make a small casket. For work, you need a thick but flexible cardboard, colored paper for decoration, two reels of scotch tape - wide and narrow. In the course of creation, a circle of cardboard is glued to each of the reels, a cardboard cylinder is glued into the wide one, protruding beyond the edges of the reel by 0.5-1.2 cm - it is necessary for the box to close. The finished product is pasted over with colored paper, decorated with bows, ribbons, pieces of cloth.

Bamboo Napkin

Bamboo napkins are produced in plain colors, decorated with beautiful intricate patterns. To make a box, a bamboo napkin is glued on or stitched onto thick textiles so that its edges are not frayed, twisted, and two rounded sides attached to the structure, also decorated with a cloth. It is required to connect tightly only three sides - the fourth one is made with a miniature lock, or it is fastened with a button, a button with an eyelet.

Of shoe boxes

A cardboard shoe box is simply, quickly turned into an original box, pasted over it with any cloth, paper. A smaller box is made using tea, juice and milk boxes. In the latter case, you need to put the box on its side, making a C-shaped cut on top, bend a piece of cardboard - there will be a lid. The construction is glued over with fabric, and two satin ribbons are fastened at the top and bottom.

From cardboard

Cardboard box in the shape of a heart is a great homemade gift option. To do it requires:

  • three sheets of colored cardboard;
  • tape measure;
  • ruler;
  • PVA glue;
  • paper flowers, beads for decoration.

On the cardboard they draw two hearts of such size as the future box should be, but the heart-lid is one millimeter larger. Next, measure the perimeter of the heart with a centimeter tape, cut out two stripes of the appropriate length (narrow for the lid, wide for the bottom), with teeth along one edge, which are used to glue to the bases. The finished box is decorated with beads, ribbons, the inscription "LOVE", etc.

Of ice cream sticks

You can make boxes by using wooden ice cream sticks - you will need at least 29 of them. You also need a "hot glue", a bit of corrugated cardboard, two colors of acrylic paints, satin ribbons, a ruler, sharp scissors, a simple pencil. Painted: 14 sticks one color, another 15. Two rectangular details are cut out of the corrugated cardboard, 5.5 by 7 cm in size, two semicircles 7 cm long, and 3 cm high. The cardboard details should also be painted.

The bottom is made up of seven sticks, alternating in color, cardboard sidewalls are vertically glued to them. Two more sides are made of six sticks each - attached to the sides. Two semicircles are connected by ten chopsticks - this will be the lid. The ends are pasted over with a satin ribbon, the cover is fastened on two ribbons.

From wooden bracelets, polymer clay

To make such a casket, you will need:

  • wide wooden bracelet or a suitable blank;
  • hot melt glue in the gun;
  • color polymer clay, a tool for working with it;
  • paints, brushes;
  • round shapes for cookies - a little more and a little less than a bracelet;
  • white marker.

Polymer clay needs to be rolled into a thin layer, with a bracelet squeeze out a circle, bake it. To paint a bracelet with paint (for example, yellow), to apply a pattern - diamonds with dots. The round baked bottom is glued with a thermogun. Two biscuits of different sizes are extruded from green polymer clay with molds for cookies; they are baked and glued together. Leaves are cut with a wooden scalpel, like a pineapple's tail - they also need to be baked and glued to the lid of the box.

Plywood

A simple plywood casket is made from several parts:

  • four sides 10 by 8 cm;
  • covers and bottom - 10 to 10 cm.

The sides are glued with PVA glue at an angle of 45 degrees - for this, they are cut accordingly. Next, the bottom is glued to secure the cover, under the hinges on one of the sidewalls and the lid itself the chamfer is removed. The loops are screwed with screws, the outer part of the product is decorated in any way.

From wood

Carved trunks-caskets are made of natural wood - linden, aspen, ash, oak, alder, birch, spruce, etc. For this you need a board with a thickness of 1-1.5 cm, which is cut to size. Preliminary, it is desirable to make a sketch, and mark the finished boards, process them with a cutter to give a beautiful shape. It is also possible to decorate manually, stretching the blanks, using a ruler, compass, sewing patterns - the thread (usually geometric, Kudrinskaya) is made according to a strict pattern. If desired, a sliding box with a handle and several compartments is made in the casket so that the product has a neat appearance, it is treated with emery paper, tinted with a stain, covered with two layers of varnish on wood.

Before starting to decorate the chest should be sanded with emery paper - first large, then small.

From postcards

For the manufacture of such a box, you will need 4-6 cards, thread "floss", needles, ruler, pencil.

Foundation details:

  • 14.5 by 8.5 cm - two pieces;
  • 14.5 by 10.5 cm - two pieces;
  • 10.5 by 8.5 cm - two pieces;
  • four diamonds for lateral inserts, length 9 cm, width - 6 cm.

Cap:

  • one part 10.5 by 8.5 cm;
  • two semicircles 8.5 by 2.5 cm.

All parts are overlaid with a stitch seam, assembled together by stitching - the box and the lid are made separately, connecting only on one side. Any small lock, a button with a loop fasten in front.

Of thread

To make such a box, you will need toothpicks, cardboard, yarn of any color, awl, heat gun, pencil, scissors. First, a pattern is drawn on the cardboard - a heart. Along its entire perimeter, departing one cm from the edge, holes are made in a centimeter from each other, toothpicks are inserted there, the tips of which are smeared with glue. Next, weaving is done, like linen - the thread goes in waves. When the desired height is typed, the thread is fixed, cut. To arrange the bottom, it is simply wrapped with a greased glue thread. The top of a design is made out by laces, tapes, beads.

From wooden clothespins

The casket-barrel is made from a round box of chips, such as Prings, disassembled wooden clothespins - they need only 12. Halves of clothespegs are glued with a glue “moment” to the jar of chips, tied in two places with flax twine. The lid is also pasted over with a linen rope, decorated with paper or textile flowers, a souvenir mug or a ball of polymer clay.

From newspaper tubes

The tubes are rolled out of newsprint, cut into strips, about five cm wide, pages of old books, glossy magazines - each piece is folded diagonally, winding on a thin needle, the tip of the sheet is fixed with white glue. For work you will need at least 18-22 tubes.

The tubes are painted with paint, to create a casket, they are attached to a cardboard bottom of a round or square shape, after which they are braided with one long tube. When the desired height is reached, the tubes are bent, cropped. After you can weave the cover of the box, decorating it with a textile bow, a flower.

From salt dough

Salt dough consists of flour, water and salt, taken in the ratio of 2 to 1.2 to 1. The dough is thoroughly kneaded, plastered and any suitable container - a jar of cream, cotton swabs, etc. For decoration, the product is decorated with fruits, leaves of dough, “legs” are attached to the bottom. Drying is done in a microwave - usually enough for five to seven minutes. The finished design is painted by hand, covered with a transparent or dark varnish, dried in air.

From sewer pipe, MDF

The jewelry box can be easily created even from a piece of sewer pipe. For this you will need:

  • plastic sewer pipe;
  • rubber glue;
  • a small piece of MDF or plywood;
  • primer;
  • food film;
  • water-based paint (for example, violet);
  • glezal white, bronze color;
  • gold paint;
  • steel pin base;
  • round ball and sticks of wood;
  • jigsaw;
  • drill with drills;
  • compass.

To begin with, four identical fragments are cut from the pipe, five to nine cm wide. Their edges are polished with sandpaper so that there is no burr. On a sheet of MDF draw five circles with a double contour, a centimeter wide, cut out on the outer contour. In four round details the dredging becomes, allowing to put on pieces of a pipe from above.

Further plastic rings are put on flat caps from MDF, glued to them. In each circle, a hole is pre-drilled for the center pin, as well as a notch into which a small stick will be inserted later, preventing the “links” of the product from turning around its axis.

After the construction is covered with an adhesive primer mixture, when the layer dries, it is painted with violet water-based paint. Then the details are decorated with glezalju, colors of nacre and bronze. To create the original texture of "marble", a crumpled piece of cellophane (food film) prodded the last, not yet dried layer pecked. The steel pin is inserted so that it passes through all the parts, and a wooden ball is put on the metal tip protruding from above. The finished product is decorated with golden paint, a butterfly or a bow is glued to the lid.

Instead of golden paint sometimes use gold leaf, in this case glue mordan is additionally purchased.

Ways of decor

The finished casket, made of any material, is necessarily decorated to give a beautiful, "festive" appearance. What is used as a decor:

  • kanzashi technique;
  • pasting with textiles, leather, colored paper, wallpaper;
  • decoupage;
  • trim ribbons, bows, crocheted laces;
  • painting, hand painting;
  • decorating with eggshell;
  • mosaic of various materials;
  • registration of "natural gifts";
  • decor of curly pasta, various types of cereals;
  • burning out, wood carving.

Differently decorated items will decorate the hall in a retro-style or a romantic nursery, a sea interior or a Provence room, a loft hallway or a baroque boudoir.

Wrapping cloth

It is possible to paste over the box with textiles both inside and outside. For pasting the internal space, a cruciform pattern is cut out of paper, which is then transferred to the fabric. Best to take velvet. It is important to make allowances - up to one cm on each side. Next, the paper is carefully smeared with glue, glued to the fabric, bending the latter so that it is not visible from the outer edges of the paper. The product is dried under a press from books, after which it is placed inside the decorated box, pressed, dried.

The easiest way is to glue a round casket with textiles - for this its height is measured, the fabric is wrapped around, cut off, the box is smeared with PVA glue, the fabric is pressed against it, the product is dried. The same is done with the lid. A wooden, plywood box can be covered with knitwear - it is laid on the surface with beautiful folds, gluing only to the bottom, fixed with a stapler.

It looks interesting product, pasted over with fur, with a scattering of beads on it, fastened with buttons, buttons.

Kanzashi decor

The kanzashi decoration technique is the art of creating flowers, leaves, birds, butterflies from cloth and ribbons. To design the product in this way, you will need the following materials, tools:

  • cardboard cylinder with a diameter of 9-12 cm;
  • felt fabric;
  • cardboard;
  • satin ribbons;
  • organza;
  • glue gun;
  • sharp scissors.

Working process:

  • the cylinder is encircled on a piece of felt and thick cardboard, there are six such blanks: four in the size of the outer contour of the pipe, two in the internal;
  • parts are connected in pairs - you get two large circles, one smaller;
  • the bottom is glued to the box; a lid is fitted;
  • details of the cover and the bottom are cut out of the fabric, they are notched, coated with glue;
  • the fabric is glued to the bottom and sides, bent inward;
  • the lid is covered in the same way, but a textile loop and a wide short ribbon are glued to its inside;
  • the smaller circle is coated with glue, glued to the inside of the lid;
  • inside the box is lined with felt;
  • for decorating the outer part of the cover, pieces of tape, six by six cm in size, are taken, which are folded in the form of petals, pasted in a circle along the edge;
  • then take the segments of the tape five to five cm., of them runs the inner circle of petals;
  • a large bead, a button, a pebble of a suitable color are glued in the middle;
  • sides are also decorated with two or three rows of petals;
  • the bottom is decorated with a wide ribbon.

Pasting paper or wallpaper

The appearance of the box, pasted over with paper, depends on the thickness, texture of the latter. When using silvery vinyl wall-paper, it is easy to create effect as if the product is covered with metal. You will need PVA glue, paper towels, clear lacquer, multi-colored acrylic paints, wallpaper, other paper.

Details are cut out of the wallpaper, taking into account the shape and size of the future product, plus small allowances for tightening. Glue is applied to the back surface of the wallpaper, the paper is left for a couple of minutes to soak, tightly pressed against the box, smoothed. It is important to carefully ensure that no air bubbles form when gluing.

Next, black acrylic is applied to the surface, then, with the help of paper towels, red is applied, dried. The next layer is silver, after it - bronze, again black and red, green and gold. The product must be dried well, covered with one or two layers of varnish.

Decoupage

To decoupage a cardboard, plywood, wooden box, you will need:

  • the box itself is the base;
  • napkins with a pattern, magazine clippings;
  • pieces of fabric, lace, ribbons;
  • PVA glue;
  • varnish;
  • acrylic paints;
  • tassels;
  • scissors;
  • sandpaper.

If the product is wooden, it is carefully polished, from pieces of napkins, magazine pictures, rags, a picture is made or a pattern, it is applied to the product. Next, glue is applied to the surface, all parts are neatly glued, smoothed, excess glue is removed with a sponge. The finished box is dried, varnished. Similarly, you can glue the box from the inside.

Coloring, painting

You can paint the trunk yourself with acrylic, oil paints, gouache. When the product is pre-pasted over with a fabric, it is painted in the batik technique using special dyes and contours.

To paint a simple wooden box, you will need a primer, multi-colored acrylic paints, brushes, stencils (they are easy to make yourself cardboard or buy in a store), sandpaper, masking tape. Initially, the design is well polished, varnished.Next, apply an even layer of primer, dry, and sand again. After the box is painted, the layer is fixed with varnish.

With the help of masking tape, parts of the product are closed, which will not be drawn in a pattern. Stencils are fixed on the place free from adhesive tape, their internal part is painted over with thick paint. If the tone is not bright enough from the first time, another one is applied on top. When the painting is complete, the box is completely varnished.

Eggshell decor

You can decorate the box with eggshell pieces - chicken, goose, quail, any other eggs are used. Also, for decorating the chest you need different paints, PVA glue, wooden nail stick, brushes, a napkin with a pattern, a box of a suitable size, which is carefully polished with sandpaper “null”.

Work process:

  • a part of the future casket, several cm in size square, is smeared with glue;
  • a piece of eggshell is taken, applied to the surface covered with glue, pressed against a nail stick;
  • under the action of the stick, the shell cracks, breaks into several parts;
  • the distance between the pieces of shells is regulated by the same rod and can be any;
  • then the entire surface of the product is gradually glued in - only the top or all sides completely;
  • a layer of PVA glue is applied on top of the chest, dried;
  • white acrylic paint is applied in two layers, dried;
  • Now a two-three-layer napkin is taken, the top layer with a pattern is separated from it, the fragments that you like are cut;
  • A piece of napkin is applied to the box, quickly and carefully covered with white glue.

If you want to make a product "antique", it is covered with black or brown paint, using a semi-dry sponge.

Mosaic decor

In the role of mosaic here are the seeds of sunflower and lupine, sea and river shells, woody cuts and pieces of bark, broken stained glass and beads, coffee beans and watermelon bones. The trunk, after gluing the decor, is usually coated with spray paint, partially or completely painted.

Also popular is the voluminous decor of baked polymer clay. More for the work needed:

  • round box;
  • liquid plastic, fimo-gel;
  • sharp stationery knife;
  • working surface made of glass or ceramic;
  • ruler;
  • tassel;
  • satin ribbons;
  • stamps for polymer clay, texture sheets;
  • baby powder or talc;
  • rolling pin for plastic;
  • varnish

How to do:

  • plastic rolls out in a thin layer, rectangles are cut out of it, slightly larger than the inner height of the box;
  • the inner walls are smeared with fimo-gel, plastic is applied to the surface, tightly pressed;
  • the top edge is trimmed with a sharp knife to get even "sides";
  • then a circle is cut out of plastic, which, after lubrication with gel, is also embedded in the box;
  • the joints of the bottom and walls are made out of thick thread, drawstring;
  • after the same lid is made;
  • both parts should be baked;
  • With the help of texture sheets, several prints of different colors are made - so that they are not clogged with clay, forms are sprinkled with talcum powder;
  • layers with patterns are cut into small squares, with a side of 10-20 mm;
  • the outer part of the chest is pasted over with details that alternate in color;
  • before sticking the last piece, under it insert a piece of satin ribbon to connect with the lid;
  • the sides of the lid are decorated with small squares, the upper part is made of triangular fragments, it is important not to forget to glue the ribbon to this part;
  • a satin ribbon loop is attached to the front of the box so that it is convenient to bake;
  • after baking, the box is painted, but before it is completely dry, paint is gently washed off the convex parts.
